As one of the necessities for select travel businesses, an Air Travel Organiser’s License (ATOL) can cause a lot of stress, both for your company wallet and your admin team. But it doesn’t have to be that way! You may be thinking, “that sounds great, but what does any of that mean?” For members of PTS, that means they can apply for their ATOL directly with PTS, and for a significantly reduced price.
It also means that the application process is far faster than applying for an independent ATOL. Why? Because, as an ATOL Franchisee, PTS is approved by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and under the Package Travel Regulations to provide licenses with reduced application requirements.
Specifically, PTS members applying for an ATOL don’t need to provide proof of adequate financial protection, PTS already has this covered with our secure travel trust account system.
The Franchise holder (known as the Franchisee) will have entered into an agreement with the Air Travel Trust and, as part of this agreement, the CAA can grant an ATOL to a Franchise member on the basis of its Franchise membership, subject to some other tests (see below). Bonds are not required to be provided to the CAA from Franchise ATOL holders as the Franchisee provides guarantees to the CAA instead.
