What Are the Package Travel Regulations?

The Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations (PTR) were put in place to protect consumer funds against insolvency. The most updated PTRs were put into action on the 1st of July 2018.

If you are selling more than one element together in a pre-arranged combination, whether it is domestic or international travel, this is still considered a package protected under the PTRs. To be a package it will also be either over 24 hours or include overnight stay.

A package will include two of the following elements: air travel, transport, accommodation, tour services. If it includes tour services, then they will be a significant portion of the package.

Packages without flights will also be Package Travel Regulations compliant. And any package including flights will be protected by the ATOL scheme and will require the company to have an ATOL.
