As October has brought waves of great news and progress for the travel industry, it is fantastic to see consumer confidence and optimism for travel returning full force. And, as winter approaches and the start of the colder days begins, it’s no surprise, but a great delight to see ski bookings rise ready for some winter wonderland adventures for UK travellers.

Ski focused travel businesses are getting ready for the season approaching, and there is excitement going around the travel industry for the winter as more holidays become possible in time for winter.

David Conrich, of France Skiing, said, “it is great to see everyone excited about getting back on the slopes again after a looooong unwanted break!” and we couldn’t agree more.

This anticipation comes with some difficulties, pertaining to destination restrictions (you can check these on the Foreign Travel Advice page) and a need to build back up from where some businesses have had to adapt to less demand, but this rise in bookings is great news for the year to come as we look forward to seeing consumer confidence continue.

Tim Eyte at Ski Inspired, said, “Last winter saw a drop of 90% in winter bookings and this winter we predict getting back to around 75% of where we were pre-Covid.

“In the last 18 months we have had some success with the local market to keep the business afloat but it’s great to see the Brits booking again and we look forward to skiing with everyone again this winter.”

The optimism that we can now see in travel businesses and consumers alike is fantastic. Travel is more available to a wider range of UK travellers than it has been in over a year and the news of restrictions easing coupled with the ski bookings rise, it brings forward a look at the near future for travel with some ski businesses seeing numbers even higher than pre-covid from the overwhelming demand for the holidays we’ve all been missing.

“Ski bookings have absolutely exploded over the last 6 weeks – September and October are traditionally strong months for sales, but we are seeing all of the pent-up demand since January 2021 feeding through,” said Fraser of Powder White.

The long wait for holidays that has been building during Covid is finally over, and though this has been a steadily building process, we in the travel industry are thrilled to see travel finding its feet again and able to provide excellent holidays to excited travellers after a dip in consumer confidence.

While consumers are excitedly booking ahead for summer 2022, the approaching winter is a wonderful time to enjoy an excellent holiday, whether it’s with an awesome ski provider or taking a trip to a winter sun destination, this is the perfect time to strike out on a new adventure.
