From Monday, November 1st Israel will now be allowing vaccinated travellers to enter with updated entry requirements. This change was confirmed with updated requirements on October 28th.
Previously, travellers from countries with covid rates Israel had deemed ‘green, yellow, or amber’ were only allowed to enter Israel in organised groups of 5-30 people, but in light of recent progress, entry has been extended and Israel is allowing all vaccinated travellers.
The Ministry of Tourism for Israel said this was “only the start of the journey” but they “look forward to welcoming back tourism to Israel” with the drop of restrictions. This plan has been in the works for a while, with some announcements of the lift in restrictions coming earlier in October and this announcement confirming requirements for travellers.
What Are the New Entry Requirements for Israel?
As of November 1st, the entry requirements to enter Israel for vaccinated UK travellers are as follows:
- Travellers need to prove vaccination in one of two ways:
- Proof of double vaccination with a vaccine programme approved by the World Health Organisation (WHO), to be provided before boarding a flight. The second dose or booster jab must have been administered within 14-180 days before travel.
- Proof of positive NAAT test (proof of recovery from covid) within 11-190 days before travel and proof of a single dose of vaccination with a vaccine programme approved by the WHO.
- Travellers must provide proof of a negative PCR test result taken within 72 hours of travel.
- Travellers also need to fill out a passenger declaration form to be shown before boarding a flight to Israel.
- Arrivals in Israel need to take a PCR test and isolate until they receive the result, or for 24 hours, whichever comes sooner. The cost of this test is around 80 Shekels (£18.50).
The requirements for children entering Israel have yet to be confirmed, so we recommend you keep an eye on the Foreign Travel Advice page to keep up-to-date when those restrictions are specified and keep in touch with your travel business when you’re booking, to stay informed.
This is excellent news, especially if you want to book a great holiday for the spring and autumn seasons of 2022 and 2023, with Israel now working on opening up tourism more and more following this update to the entry requirements.
