Despite some apprehension and confusion surrounding travel news this week, as we welcome in December and the end-of-year excitement it brings, it has been announced that Fiji are open to vaccinated international travellers from December 1st.

A lovely winter sun destination, Fiji has been closed off to international travellers for almost 2 years during covid, and this moment has been greatly anticipated by both travellers and the tourism industry of Fiji.

Fully vaccinated international travellers will now no longer have to quarantine upon arrival in Fiji as long as they are from a “travel partner” country, these include the UK and Ireland and you can find the full list of “travel partner” countries on the Fiji Travel website.

With 90% of the local population in Fiji fully vaccinated, and the use of the Care Fiji Commitment (CFC) ensuring approved travel businesses are prepared for travellers during covid, Fiji are confident to go ahead with this plan despite the recent emergence of the Omicron variant in other parts of the world.

Chief executive of Tourism Fiji, Brent Hill, said: “It’s such an exciting day for Fiji and for our tourism industry. It’s been a long time coming.

“From airline to accommodation, Fiji tourism operators and related services have worked hard to ensure and uphold internationally benchmarked Covid-safety practices.

“The resumption of both domestic and international tourism is a credit to Fiji’s collective commitment for public safety, and safe and seamless travel, coupled with our famous Bula spirit.”

From December 1st, the rules of entry for international fully vaccinated travellers are as follows:

  • All adults (over 18s) must be fully vaccinated
  • Under 18s may enter Fiji without quarantine or vaccination if they accompany a fully vaccinated adult
  • All travellers over 12 must have proof of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of departure to Fiji
  • Arrivals must stay at a CFC certified hotel and take a prebooked rapid antigen test within 3 days, travellers will need proof of a booking at one of these hotels

We always advise consumers to stay up to date with destination policies through the Foreign Travel Advice page or the destination’s official tourism board. You can also ask the travel agent you book with about destination restrictions if you’re uncertain.

It is great news to see a beloved destination like Fiji open to vaccinated travellers in time for some great 2022 and last-minute winter bookings. Though there is uncertainty surrounding the Omicron variant at the moment, travel is still open, and we look forward to seeing some fantastic holidays in Fiji.

So, if you’re ready to book a great holiday soon, don’t forget to get in contact with a travel business registered with PTS offering 100% financial protection through trust. Or, if you’d like assistance choosing a lovely PTS member to book with, you can contact PTS directly at 0207 190 9988.
