Exciting news for travellers came out late last week (the 2nd of December) as Tunisia officially announced the removal of all its Covid-related entry restrictions for visitors from all around the world.

According to the announcement made on Friday the 2nd of December by the Tunisian National Tourist Office, Tunisia’s Ministry of Public Health removed all of its pre-existing Covid entry rules on Thursday the 1st of December with immediate effect. This action applies to all travellers to Tunisia regardless of vaccination status, destination, or place of origin.

The removal of all of Tunisia’s Covid entry rules means that travellers will no longer be required to provide evidence of an entire course of the vaccination, nor will they need to provide evidence of a negative Covid test taken pre-departure. This is a step that many destinations have taken over the course of 2022, a move statistically reflected in the increase of travel that comes closer to reflecting 2019 levels than it did throughout the Covid pandemic.

The FCDO has already updated the Foreign Travel Advice page to reflect the change in the entry rules for Tunisia. The advice reads, “From 1 December, you can enter Tunisia without providing proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test. On arrival in Tunisia, you must share your contact details and travel information with authorities.”

Though the Covid entry rules have been removed, there are still some Covid-related measures in place for travellers once they have arrived in Tunisia. Face masks and coverings are still required if symptoms of Covid are showing. All enclosed public spaces are also still required to be ventilated to an approved standard. The ministry refused to rule out changing or reintroducing these measures if the situation does develop.

Tunisia also plans to continue with the currently running vaccination campaign for those who are elderly or suffering from chronic diseases and immuno-vulnerabilities.
