It was fantastic to see the announcement for Monday the 20th of December stating that Switzerland has relaxed testing requirements for vaccinated UK travellers entering the country.

Though destination requirements have been changing and tightening in a few countries of late, it is awesome news that a great winter destination like Switzerland will now be allowing fully vaccinated UK travellers in with easier, more versatile, and more inclusive testing requirements.

These have already been updated on the Foreign Travel Advice page, so don’t forget to check these for any other details you may need when booking a holiday to any destination or check these details with your lovely travel agent.

These new, relaxed restrictions for entering Switzerland give travellers more options for testing as they will now accept negative antigen tests taken up to 24 hours before departure to Switzerland alongside negative PCRs taken up to 72 hours before departure. This means that anyone who has already booked a test won’t need to worry about booking a new one.

These relaxed restrictions also mean that fully vaccinated travellers or travellers that have recently recovered from Covid entering Switzerland will no longer have to take extra tests on days 4 and 7 after arrival in Switzerland.

Though this update took effect starting yesterday (Monday the 20th of December) the decision to relax restrictions was announced on the 17th, just a day after France tightened restrictions. This is optimistic news, and it further opens up a great ski and winter destination for holidaymakers that were disappointed with the news from France.

As before, children under 16 are still exempt from all testing when entering Switzerland. In tandem with this travel announcement further precautions were put in place to limit the capacity at gathering places to ensure the continued safety of those in Switzerland.
