On the 28th of January (Friday) excellent news came out that the Philippines will open to vaccinated travellers in February. This decision is wholeheartedly backed by the tourism industry in the Philippines with marketing efforts booming.

The government in the Philippines announced that the country will reopen to fully vaccinated travellers on the 10th of February. The Tourism Secretary, and those in the Tourism industry, have approved of this move and are working on campaigns, events, and more to reintroduce the allure of the Philippines to travellers that were unable to enter before.

This move specifically allows fully vaccinated travellers from countries whose citizens are allowed into the country without the need for a visa. This list includes nationals from the UK.

This great news also means that fully vaccinated travellers entering the Philippines will no longer be required to quarantine upon arrival if they are travelling as holidaymakers or for leisure purposes. Following the 10th of February, the requirements for entry to the Philippines will be as follows:

  • Arrivals must provide proof of a full course of vaccination.
  • Arrivals must provide evidence of a negative PCR test taken within 48 hours pre-departure.
  • All arrivals must have at least 6 months left on their passport at the date of arrival in the Philippines (if you’d like to learn more about passport validity and requirements or more general preparations for travel, check out our articles).
  • Arrivals must already have tickets booked for their departure from the country (such as in a package holiday).

As always, we highly recommend consumers check the Foreign Travel Advice page for any further requirements or to keep up to date on current restrictions for your destination. If you’re uncertain about travel requirements, you can also get in touch with your travel agent for up-to-date information.

The Philippines being open to travel again is excellent news, travellers and travel businesses alike are excited for the reintroduction of the Philippines as a possible destination for UK travellers.
