In a fantastic report this week it was announced by the government of Fiji that all remaining Covid-related entry requirements for international travellers to Fiji have now been removed.

Following the announcement this week, Fiji dropped all remaining entry requirements for international travellers on Tuesday the 14th of February, with their new rules coming into place the same day (you can check out the new and reduced entry rules for your chosen destination on the Foreign Travel Advice page, updated live).

According to the reports, these last Covid-related entry rules were dropped in Fiji due to the careful consideration of both the global and the national Covid situation by a risk mitigation task force in Fiji. This new set of rules means that international visitors to the destination will no longer have to give evidence of a Covid vaccination status, nor will international travellers be obligated to possess the appropriate travel insurance to travel to Fiji.

Prior to this announcement, all international travellers over the age of 16 were required to give evidence of a full course of the Covid vaccination programme, along with travel insurance that specifically covered any Covid-related situations on holiday.

“Consistent with the experience in other countries with high vaccination rates, Fiji will no longer have any Covid-19 related border health measures,” the Fijian government said. “Fiji’s border authorities will continue to review border health measures and maintain community surveillance for early warning of future threats while fostering socio-economic recovery.”

Brent Hill, the Tourism Fiji Chief Executive Officer, added, “The industry welcomes the decision to remove all protocols, restrictions, vaccination requirements and COVID-19 tests – and invites the world to come and experience Fiji: where happiness comes naturally.”

“We still strongly encourage travellers to have travel insurance and take the necessary precautions we all know well to stay healthy and maximise their fun in Fiji.”
