In an exciting move for UK travellers this week, the Cayman Islands has announced the decision to lift all remaining Covid-related travel restrictions for all travellers around the world.

Following this change from the Cayman Islands travel restrictions, travellers will no longer be required to provide any Covid testing, either pre-departure or post-arrival, nor will recovery certificates or vaccination evidence be required alongside registration requirements being removed as well.

This change was announced by the Cayman Islands on Tuesday the 23rd of August, with the new rules going into effect today, on Wednesday the 24th of August (you can find out more about the details of the new restrictions on the Foreign Travel Advice page). It means that travellers will no longer be required to be fully vaccinated, regardless of where in the world they are travelling from.

This comes out following a five-stage border reopening plan from the Cayman Islands that took place over the course of the past few months. Now, with the plan having taken action, the Cayman Islands authorities are confident that they can make the final move to open up to all travellers alike. The minister for tourism and transport in the Cayman Islands, Kenneth Bryan, stated that these new restrictions were “in keeping” with the current restrictions around the world.

“Today is a great day in Cayman and we thank every traveller, partner, and member of our community for ensuring our government’s phased reopening plan remains a success,” he said. “At last, we can proudly say the Cayman Islands is open to all.”

The Cayman Islands director of tourism, Rosa Harris, also commented, “With each new phase of reopening we have seen an increase in visitor arrivals to our beautiful destination, and we recently celebrated a major tourism recovery milestone as we increased airlift capacity. We are ready to open our doors to everyone who wishes to visit us and believe that the future of Cayman tourism is strong.”
