Excellent news came out this week as Cape Verde announced the removal of all Covid-related entry requirements for international travellers. This news has already been subsequently updated by the UK Foreign Office.

According to the announcement that came out on Wednesday the 28th of September, international travellers to Cape Verde are no longer required to provide evidence of a full vaccination status or a negative Covid test taken pre-departure. It is also no longer required for travellers to complete a passenger locator form in order to enter Cape Verde.

This news comes out only two months after Cape Verde removed all requirement for travellers to complete a health surveillance form when they choose to travel between the 10 islands. Such swift progress is excellent news for travellers looking to visit the archipelago in 2023.

With these requirements removed completely for all travellers, the only requirements remaining are the need to complete a Traveller Pre-registration form and pay an airport security tax if the traveller is arriving by plane.

If a traveller to Cape Verde does test positive for Covid while they are in the country, they are required to self-isolate for a week following the start of symptoms or from the day they tested positive depending. Anyone who comes in close contact with the traveller that tested positive will only be required to self-isolate if they show symptoms after this encounter.

This news has been updated on the Foreign Travel Advice page by the FCDO so you can stay up to date on the details of entry requirements for Cape Verde. The FCDO has also recommended that if travellers are in need of medical advice while in Cape Verde, they should contact the health authorities on +238 (0) 800 1112.
