While the world is adjusting to the addition of the Covid booster jab and adapting travel rules accordingly, it’s fantastic to still see destinations easing restrictions for UK visitors. Among this news, the British Virgin Islands test-on-arrival requirement has now been removed for fully vaccinated arrivals.

Including cruise passengers and crew, all fully vaccinated arrivals in the British Virgin Islands are now free of arrival tests when they visit. This is not specific to UK travellers, but vaccinated travellers as a whole.

Following this announcement from the Virgin Islands’ government, the requirements to enter the British Virgin Islands for vaccinated travellers now look as follows:

  • Fully vaccinated adults, unaccompanied children, and children aged 5-17 accompanying fully vaccinated adults must have proof of a negative Covid test taken up to 48 hours pre-departure.
  • Fully vaccinated adults must provide proof of a full course of a WHO-approved Covid vaccine. The final dose must have been administered at least 14 days pre-departure.

This information has not yet been updated on the Foreign Travel Advice page, but we always recommend checking it for your destination before you book for full details.

The tourism industry in the British Virgin Islands is also showing great anticipation for the future of travel to the Virgin Islands. Clive McCoy, Tourism Director, said, “Our government has taken a phased approach to reopening the territory during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We are very encouraged with the response from travellers to the phased relaxation of our protocols, as our tourism partners have reported strong bookings for the 2021/2022 tourism season, reminiscent of pre-pandemic numbers.

“However, we still caution guests and the local population to strictly adhere to all the existing protocols that will ensure our safety, including, social distancing, mask wearing and observing hygiene and sanitization best practices.”

As a great destination for those looking to escape the British winter and relax in the sunshine to end out this eventful 2021, this is great news for vaccinated holidaymakers.
