The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued some travel advice for football fans travelling out for the World Cup at the end of this month (20th of November). This advice is urging travellers to check their travel firm is legitimate before booking.

The World Cup is taking place in Qatar from the 20th of November to the 18th of December and England and Wales are both participating. This is getting a lot of hype from eager fans who want to travel to Qatar to watch it live, and the CAA have released messages accordingly to advise these fans to ensure their bookings are definitely ATOL protected so their trip is “not ruined by booking fake deals or being ripped off by people falsely posing as reputable travel agents”.

Paul Smith, the CAA consumers and markets Director, said, “Football fans need to know the score before booking to make sure they can enjoy the World Cup in Qatar. Nobody wants to score an own goal by not doing their research on their chosen travel firm and losing out as a result.

“Depending on how England and Wales progress some people might be tempted to make a last-minute booking to Qatar – hopefully football will be the winner with everyone enjoying a trouble-free trip.”

The CAA added, “There are some non-UK travel companies which offer World Cup tours to UK consumers. These products should be ATOL protected, but do your research and check our website to ensure they hold an ATOL and provide the appropriate financial protection.”

To ensure that your trip is legally and financially protected, you can also look for the Protected Trust Services (PTS) logo on their website to ensure they are a trusted member of PTS. This will appear with their membership number on the logo. Or, if you’d like to double-check that the travel business you’re booking with has complete financial protection, you can search the PTS system for your member just by visiting the PTS consumer website.

So, if you’re looking forward to your next holiday, don’t wait, book now with a travel business registered with PTS for 100% financial protection through trust. Or, if you’d like assistance choosing one of the lovely PTS members to book with, you can contact PTS directly at 0207 190 9988

And if you’d like to learn more about your financial protection with PTS or how the Package Travel Regulations protect your holiday booking, check out our pages and Travel Advice.
