In support of Julia’s House, more than 40 giant mermaid tail sculptures were featured across the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) area in Spring 2025, with the launch of The Great Tail Trail.

Giant mermaid tail sculptures were on display across the BCP area for 8 weeks from 5 April to 1 June 2025, sparking imagination and adventure amongst everyone taking part.

Each sculpture was sponsored by a local business or organisation – including PTS – and had its own unique, colourful design created by specially commissioned artists. All the mermaid tails were featured in a mer-mazing display along our stunning coast and in our vibrant towns.

The Great Tail Trail helped raise vital funds for Julia’s House children’s hospice, to help them keep providing a a vital care lifeline to seriously ill children and their families.

While the Great Tail Trail has come to a close, you can still see the tails before this month if you’ve missed them!

The Farewell Weekend from the 14th to the 15th of June will feature all the tails in the BIC in Bournemouth for their last wave goodbye to the public.

There will also be an auctioning of the tails on the 20th of June. Julia’s House are excited to welcome some serious bidders to take ownership of this oceanic artwork. Our very own John and Dan will even be there.
