Running a travel business like the Wheelie Good Travel Company is always about giving your clients the best experience possible. In fact, that is true for all travel businesses. However, what part of that experience you prioritise, and in what way, is completely different from business to business. As a great example, the Wheelie Good Travel Company have grown into a fantastic travel business prioritising not just a good holiday, but all the details that could make or break that holiday surrounding accessibility.
Who Are The Wheelie Good Travel Company?
Jonathan Fletcher didn’t start in travel with the Wheelie Good Travel Company. “We established Silver Service Cruises Ltd back in 2011 as a specialist cruise travel agency. We initially were part of the Cruise Holidays UK Franchise which then became cruise and Travel Holidays. Following the Covid Pandemic we identified an upsurge in the number of disabled people wanting to travel. So, we launched our accessible travel brand Wheelie Good Travel Company. In January 2026, we made the decision to go independent as we wanted greater control of our business and to expand and grow our business. We became PTS members in February 2026.”
Jonathan saw the lack of great accessible travel post-pandemic and while still running his successful cruise agency, decided to establish the Wheelie Good Travel Company to help give disabled travellers a smoother journey.
“We have established the Wheelie Good Travel Company as one of the leading Accessible Travel Brands. We specialise in supporting the disabled travellers who want to be more independent but have the support of travel specialists who understand their needs and have the lived experience of travelling as a disabled person. We differ from many of our competitors as we offer a greater choice of types of holiday including bespoke accessible travel in both the UK and Overseas Travel as well as partnering with service providers such as taxi companies, insurance companies and mobility equipment providers etc.”
What is Jonathan Planning For the Future?
“We are currently working on a collection of ‘no fly’ exclusive holidays and breaks in the UK and Europe,” Jonathan said. “This will initially be marketed directly to our clients with the aim of expansion to marketing it to the trade by the end of 2027.”
How Did Their Journey With PTS Begin?
“We were originally looking for greater control of our business’s destiny and the scope to expand and develop our business in the way we want to. With the protection and credibility that PTS offers our clients. PTS has given us the ability and support to expand and develop the business in ways that a were not possible under a franchise model.
“Whilst I had been aware of PTS for a few years it was not until the end of 2025 that I felt the business was in a position to make the move. The opportunity came to take the step to achieving independence came in January 2026 and after discussions with Grant, it was clear that PTS were a good fit for our plans to take the business to the next level. Soon after the initial aproach, we began the onboarding process.”
The decision to move away from their previous set up wasn’t without it’s challenges for the Wheelie Good Travel Company. Jonathan said, “One of the biggest challenges we faced was that we had to re-establish relationships with many suppliers. The team at PTS were supportive and helped me with this and I now have a bigger supplier list than I did as a franchisee and greater choice of products and services. Helping me remodel the business to suit us rather than to the model dictated by a franchise or consortium.”
Where Did PTS Provide The Most Support to the Wheelie Good Travel Company?
“The financial protection PTS offers our clients, this is a major selling point to our clients,” Jonathan said. This is what initially drew him towards PTS as an option. “There is a superb CRM system that you can use as a database, quote tool, and financial reporting. The network of over 200 suppliers plus the ability to work with our own suppliers means we can scale and shape our business how we want to grow.”
After becoming a member, Jonathan also stated that the support of the team was invaluable, “whether it be accounting, finance or technical and introductions to new suppliers.” He was also very grateful for “the support you receive from other members” within the community while he made the transition into full independence.
“In 9 months [since joining PTS] we are now seeing the growth and potential that we could only ever dream of as a franchisee. Knowing that you are the master of your own business’s destiny is incredibly empowering, and the knowledge that the team are just a phone call or email away is a powerful tool to enable progress.”
