PTS offers new travel companies a free business plan and cash flow forecast as well as a free consultation. This is designed to help you understand marketing costs, business costs and profitability. The business plan can also be used to help set up business banking, PTS membership, and merchant services. To this end, we can also assist in your application to acquire merchant services, which is the ability to take payments via debit or credit card over the phone or on your website (like a shopping basket) from your customers. PTS members achieve a rate of 1 – 1.3% for credit cards and a rate of 0.25 – 0.35% for debit cards.
PTS has also developed a software package with its’ members designed specifically for travel agents. The software includes live availability for hotels, packages and flights to name but a few, as well as the ability to build your own supplier database that you can manage and update yourself. PTS also offer our members an ATOL license allowing them to purchase flight tickets and add them to tours or holidays. The cost for ATOL for PTS members is £740.00 and does not require bonding or additional insurance. The fee is payable direct to the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) once your PTS membership has been approved. Included in the PTS fees are live reconciliation on each booking for incoming client payments (£0.45 – £0.75 per transaction) and outgoing payments to suppliers (£1.00 – £1.75) so that the software provides the complete support for your company both in the initial stages and as it grows.
PTS offer a service to all new start up travel companies where we provide free consultation and advice on regulations, banking, and other services that you require to trade, both legally, and with a view to expanding your business in the future, whilst concentrating on the opportunity and profitability. If you complete a contact us form, you will be contacted by a specialist consultant who will firstly speak to you about your business (even if you are at the early stages of setting everything up or you just have an idea for a travel business that you would like to explore) so that we can advise you correctly on the package travel regulations, merchant services, ATOL, tour operator liability insurance, and software.
The next step will be to provide you with a business plan (to include profit & loss forecasts, marketing budgets, expected turnover and year one margin), this can be used by you to fully understand your business model (although most travel companies are very similar, the difference between a flight only company, niche tour operator and travel agent can be quite large when producing marketing and financial forecasts). The business plan can also be used for your PTS membership, obtaining a business bank account and acquiring merchant services. It will also be a template for you to best design packages and websites to ensure the opportunity is both profitable and has longevity for you and your company. Once you have joined PTS (application fee is £999.00 + vat) we work closely with you on producing the application document and collating all relevant documents: –
- PTS Application Form (which includes your Business Plan, Cash Flow Forecast, Profit & Loss, and your Opening Balance Sheet)
- Proof of ID
- Proof of home address
- Website and T&Cs
- Proof of Business Bank Account
We will then produce an application to the merchant provider for your merchant services application, allowing you to take debit and credit card payments from your customers. Once your merchant application has been approved, PTS liaise with Oayo to set up your payment gateway so you can process card payments from your customers. PTS will also setup your access to the online travel software and give you full training on its functionality and how it can bring value and organisation to your business from day one as the software allows you to manage your customers from the day they enquire with you until they travel. The software also provides you with accounting details of all transactions in and out of the trust account, and produces an online itinerary for your customers to log into securely to check their bookings, update attendee details, and make payments towards their bookings.
